A Bit of History:

Chebeague Island has long been a destination for vacationers. Prior to air conditioning, people came in search of relief from the heat of hot summer days.

Currently, Chebeague has 2 ferries to choose from, distinguishing it from other Casco Bay islands, which are serviced by the Casco Bay Lines, only.

Chebeague Transportation Company (CTC)

The CTC Ferry takes 15 minutes and transfers passengers from Cousins Island wharf in Yarmouth to Chebeague Island. This Ferry is located 30 minutes north of Portland and Parking is at the CTC Satellite lot on the Cumberland/Yarmouth line. A bus takes you and your luggage to the Cousins Island Wharf. Please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes prior to bus departure time.

 

Casco Bay Lines (CBL)

This ferry departs from Portland and is a 1 and 1/2 hour run to Chebeague, offering scenic views of Casco Bay and stops at other major islands. A municipal parking garage is located next to the terminal at the end of Franklin Arterial in Portland.

Driving Directions to CTC Ferry

 

To the Yarmouth/Cumberland CTC Satellite parking lot:

Driving from the South:
  • Take the Maine Turnpike (I-95) North, to Exit 52 ramp to U.S. Route 1 North. Continue on U.S. Route 1 North about 3 miles and the lot will be on your left. OR...
  • Take I-295 North through Portland, Maine to Exit 15 “Yarmouth/Cumberland” to U.S. Route 1. At the stop sign, turn left onto U.S. Route 1 South. The parking lot is ahead about ¼ mile on your right.

Driving from the North:

  • Take the Maine Turnpike (I-95) South, to Exit 52 ramp to U.S. Route 1 North. Continue on U.S. Route 1 North about 3 miles and the lot will be on your left. OR...
  • Take I-295 South, to Exit 15 “Yarmouth/Cumberland” to U.S. Route 1. At the stop sign, turn left onto U.S. Route 1 South. The parking lot is ahead about ¼ mile on your right.

Taxi Directions from Portland to CTC Cousins Island Wharf:

  • Take 295-North to Exit 15: “Yarmouth/Cumberland”
  • At end of the exit ramp, turn LEFT onto Route 1 South. Go less than 1 mile.
  • Turn LEFT onto Tuttle Road Ext., then immediate LEFT onto Tuttle road.
  • Turn LEFT onto Route 88 North and proceed about 2+miles.
  • At the old Westcustogo Inn, turn RIGHT onto Princes Point Road.
  • At stop sign turn LEFT onto Gilman Road, continuing over Cousins Island Bridge. After bridge, the road becomes Cousins Street. Proceed 1 ½-2 miles.
  • Turn LEFT onto Wharf Road *(If you start seeing Power Plant signs you ’ve missed the turn.) Proceed to very end of Wharf Rd. At the bottom of the hill, you’ll see the wharf & docking float.
